Show me your hot rod cab
A friend of mine has a 88 Cab and we were discussing ideas to make it a bit more aggressive looking. I was thinking about something along the lines of Moses' Targa. There is a hot rod Targa thread, so lets see what you cab guys have to offer for inspiration.

Jermy,
Too bad many of us cab owners are not that aggressive. Dave keeps the using the same word too. ![]() Jeff |

The beauty of a Cab for me is in the simple lines, so spoilers and so on are off the menu. All I did to mine was take a load of weight out of it, fitted 951 7s in front and 9 x 16s in the back, race pads & fluid, Momo wheel etc, set the geometry up properly and now it goes much better. Just bought another 204bhp motor to rebuild, so may get more power in the future. Here it is at Spa:

The coolest hotrod cab project I have seen lately is going together in Don Istook's shop in Texas right now. It's beyond b!tchin'.
Check this thread on the early S registry for the complete story and pics. ![]() TT

thanks for the compliment. patrick motorsports has a full race speedster in process. already tubed out(cage),all suspension done, wiring in process. will have some UNGODLY 3.8 mtr in it. it is wicked. true one of a kind car.
but as i mentioned...........running in competition(please dont EVER TELL ME TIME TRIALS AINT A RACE!) taught me one thing.............my car is TOO NICE to get wasted and turned into a beer can with 42 other NUTCASES trying to get the checkered flag. oh did i mention how many people sandbagged and entered the "beginner " class. pretty obvious to one and all by how their cars were prepped and their driving skills. dont get me wrong.........i have had a blast. but im also wise enough to realize that sooner or later my car will get hit, or hit someone/something else w/the end result i have taken a beautiful functional car and reduced into a wad of metal. while watching one run group, a guy blew his motor and oil went everywhere on the track causing a number of cars to wad up into a ball of crushed fiberglass/sheetmetal/carbon fiber. and needless to say there were quite a few unhappy campers that day. to take a cab or a speedster down to the tub and purpose build it for either the track or road rally would be a gas. all you see is coupes and an occasional targa. speedsters and cabs are getting rare, hence the obvious price increase in excellance for my year(1987-89) only 2653 cabs were made and its pretty obvious from our local junkyard (20th st auto) that quite a few cabs have been wadded up into a beer can just on the street, let alone a race course, so prices are going up on them. putting all the goodies into it and the bucks has made my car into one awesome road warrior on the highway. a little stiff sometimes, but still enjoyable and always puts a smile on my passengers face when we find some lonely stretch of highway to open it up. oh the lights........daveb at TRE sells the light pod. smartest thing i have ever did for night driving. you will never want to take them off, once you drive with them. (2) H-4's, (2) hella 550's, and (4) hella rally 4000's. ![]() |
