pcv valve hose on 3.2 engine
Has anyone come up with a good fix for the short hose that connects the PCV valve to the oil tank on a 3.2 engine? It's about 1.5" long, looks like a 3/4" OD on one side and 1/2" OD on the other (my "eyecrometer" could be needing calibration), located right next to the oil filler cap. Pelican says the part is no longer available, and mine is looking pretty cracked. Not sure where to find such an odd duck hose - the auto parts store clerks have just looked at me with glazed eyes.
I have several thoughts... but hopefully someone has come up with something better? Temporary: Wrap entire thing with silicone tape - ought to make it last another year or two, but pretty "half-fast". More permanent: Just buy another conveniently sized PCV valve and hose that fits, and try to splice it in as a replacement. Are PCV valves universal, other than the attachment method and orientation? Seems like they would be (just a check valve after all), but my brilliant sense of deduction has left me flat footed before. This solution seems less "half-fast", possibly tending towards almost reasonable. Still I'd prefer the OEM setup. Any hints or help would be appreciated....

I have had good luck using self sealing rubberized tape.

not sure what you mean - a pcv valve ventilates the crankcase in one direction only, thus preventing a backfire from blowing up the motor from within...
here is a picture: ![]() Right between the oil filter and oil filler cap. Hose connects PCV valve to oil tank.

I put a small size hose on the tank connector and then put a larger size hose on top of that. I will try to take picture tomorrow but it works just fine as there is a fairly large difference in the connector sizes.

Thanks dfink! That sounds like a better plan than my ideas...

I've done the fix that "dfink" described with 2 different size hoses, and it is a very good fix. The same fix also works for the "pipette" on the back side of the rubber boot elbow looking thingy that sits on top of the intake. I have pics on my home computer and will post later today. To the untrained eye the fix will be unoticeable.
