Too many numbers and the "G5" probably should be "GS". I think you mean WPOZZZ91ZGS151555. MY 1986, Carrera Cabrio. Produced from 8/85-7/86. #1555 of 2358 produced.

well, hope it helps you but your VIN number is somehow fancy or you have a typo in it:

WPO: Porsche
ZZZ: USA
91: 911 ( problem #1: it should be 91 and not 911) -->
1: can not Identify!
Z: Check Number
G: 1986 Production Year
5: (Problem # 2) are you sure this is a 5 and not a S? S: would be production location: Stuttgart
1: 911 (0 would be Turbo, 9 would be 959)
5: Cabriolet from 1983 and up
1555: running production number (usualy for this year)

Please check one more time,

Shahram

ZZZ is ROW or Japan. Other letters like ABO or EBO are USA/CDN.

Some of the VINs will always have the ZZZ. All cars are built with ZZZ until their final destination is determined. Do all the VINs on the car have the ZZZ?

And a weird bit of trivia, it's WP0 (as in 'W' - 'P' - zero), not WPO (the letter 'o'). Porsche wants everyone to think it's an 'O,' though. But they weren't allowed to use an 'O.'

Here's an explanation by the author Adrian Streather:

Quote:
Many years ago I submitted an article for publication in a major magazine.
The editor without discussing it with me dilligently went through and took out all my WP0s and replaced them with WPO.

The legend of O, which is more than just the story of 0, still remains today.

However the actual meaning of WP0 is: W = West Germany for all models prior to reunification. Now just Germany of course. P = Porsche. The third digit under German law has to describe the vehicles use and the manufacturers were permitted to select a letter to describe either passenger vehicle, or commercial vehicle etc etc. Audi chose "U" to make AU for their passenger vehicles only. VW chose W for their passenger vehicles only, but Porsche could not choose "O" because "O's" not allowed so they chose "0" which is the generic number for a passenger vehicle under the German VIN code law. P0 being seen as better than nothing and hopefully people would mistake the 0 for an O which they did and still do.

Is that the VIN from the stamping in the trunk?

Check the VIN on the B pilar and A pilar to see if they also have the ZZZ.
