Spacers or Adaptors
I am planning to increase the rear track on my Carrera by an inch or so to fill the wheelwell when I install 16's instead of the 15's it came with.
I can do it with spacers and longer studs or with adaptors to which the wheel is bolted and which is in turn bolted to the hub. Any thoughts on which way to do it? |

You won't have change wheel studs with the adaptors, so that would be my choice.

anything you add will be additional unsprung weight
factory spacers are the lightest aftermarket adapters carry around 2 of everything, (studs and nuts)...very heavy Bill K

Have you purchased the 16's yet? If not, get wheels with the proper offset, and use neither.
Are you going to track the car? I would not use adapters on a track car. |

I got adapters...I check the torque on them twice a year just to make sure...never had problems with...

That's the best advice right there. Then if the wider wheels still don't fill out enough, you can use lesser spacers with longer studs. You then end up with more desirable wheels and less spacer.

I'm pretty sure that adapters are not legal tech for DE/Club Race. Spacers are... goes to checkability of the entire mount of wheel to hub thing...
This may spec you what you need. -Michael
