2 years in the PNW and I have to gloat about the roads we get to drive out here. Here's a few pictures of my drive today across the Cascade Mountain range.

Mt. Washington just near Suttle Lake.

Simply great 2 lane Oregon roads.

Ok and here is a pic of my engine compartment after a 3M engine degreaser application. Looks decent. Only problem is that it is really smelly now like hot chemicals. Hasn't gone away all day. You guys have this when you do yours?

Nice country! The only thing missing from your pictures of Oregon back roads, in my memory are the Hiway patrol radar vehicles, about one every 5 miles or so.

I recall driving from Portland over to the coast and feeling like a TV dinner my detector was ringing so constantly...

It is beautiful there though, no argument about that.

But for the rain, liberals and the fact that if you get lost in the woods something might eat you I could dig living in the PNW. Lots of very nice early 911's in your neck of the woods as well.

Beautiful pics! I spent a summer on Mt Hood ('80) and it was some of the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen, even with the soot from Mt St Helens in the air! I can still taste the huckleberries!

The trouble is that the budget deficit is being addressed by the OHP, Sherriff, or local cops laying in wait for drivers on those lovely two laners. It has become really risky to enjoy the backroads lately.

By the way, if you get caught doing over 100 MPH in Oregon I think you lose your license and your car gets impounded, $1000 fine, etc. As you all of you know, things happen pretty fast in a 911 and 100 MPH is pretty easy to exceed.

Thanks for the tip. The over 100mph is good to know, not that I've ever done it I didn't get to crazy anyhow, but surprisingly I didn't see too many cops. I was traveling along the 22/20/126. I almost made it to Bend, OR from Silverton. Not quite, which I will hopefully soon, supposedly a really nice city and a lot of Porsches.

My aluminum hose that is all dented that's for the heat right? How easy is it to change? The top connection is very accessible but what about the bottom, gotta remove the A/C compressor?

And beautiful giant red wood trees. As a tree nut, that part of the world is my Mecca. You read stuff like: Make it a mission in you life that you at least once should drive a GT3 or what not. Well, my mission is to travel and see those giants before I die. How weird it that..

Took the family out to northern California and southern Oregon (Crater Lake) a couple years ago. The trees are very cool. Beautiful country and great weather for windows-down driving... in the summer.

Now to drive a GT3 through that part of the country would be a nice life goal.

Those are Douglas Fir trees. To see the really big stuff, the redwoods, you need to head south, to coastal Northern California...

I think your heater hose is slide on at bottom, with no clamp. But mine may just be missing!

It can be a hassle. And might very well be easier with the compressor moved off to the side. The hose I used didn't want to bend as much as I needed it to.

I think some other Pelicans have used an aviation rated hose. Do a quick search. They appear to be much tougher and they look good, too.

It rains 6 months a year so you really need some tires that are good in the wet - real good.

Liberals ooze out of the wet soil -- it doesn't just rain liberals. But that's nothing, it's the anarchists that keep things really stirred up.

Then there are the ultra high taxes (personal taxes - the corporate taxes are nothing here).

So if you can afford a house (garage) and a car you can live here.

Otherwise, just visit in the summer time and avoid the rain & taxes -- but not the bicycles and pedestrians -- and you're required to give them a wide berth when turning, passing, etc.
