Has anyone see one of these before?
![]() ![]() ![]() This was attached to the back of my alternator. It made removing the alt a major PIA. I'm not wanting to reinstall it. What does everyone think?

It is an important part of controlling the air flow under the fan shroud. Without it you won’t get equal cooling of the left and right cylinder banks. Put it back (pita and all).
Best, Grady

Pete,
A little TLC and paint will make you feel better about it. I have never measured head temperatures, averaged side-to-side, with and without the baffle but I suspect it is very significant. As I recall, the two vanes are positioned roughly on either side of the coil mount on the fan housing. Am I correct? Be sure and get the washers under the nuts. Don't forget the ground strap. Best, Grady

Too funny, I pulled my alternator last week, had it rebuilt and put it in today. Its not that hard. Look at it and determine which nuts on the back of the alternator you need to have off before you put it back in. Not too bad if you have small hands. Pelican is great, I would have hesitated to r/r the alternator without the posts on this site that I searched.

That is also on all 911 Turbos, be careful if you overtighten the small nuts it will crack that housing.
