It's alive! My 911 is back home as of now. So far, there are no oil leaks, but we'll see what happens after the RPM needle is worked out a little ;).
Marco, thank you for everything. It's assuring to have someone that knows what he is doing. Last thing I need, is to cause a valve to introduce itself to a cylinder. It was a bummer to have the car back together and running, only to have to tear into it again. Now I have to record the mileage and note how many quarts of oil are in the car. I am surprised that the car is showing no smoke from the exhaust, now that there is no cat. Anyone wanna go for a drive :) Dave |
You're welcome; it was my pleasure. And thanks for the beer, too. Fat Tire goes a loooooong way in my book.
PS: Wanna race? :D |
Congrats, Dave!! Get that car down here so we can take a run up to Palomar. One of the best roads I've been on yet.
Btw, just because you don't have a Cat doesn't mean it's going to smoke. Very light brown smoke usually means unburned fuel, which is usually a result of a mis-adjusted fuel system. You will get that...smell...though. So, how do you like the setup, anyway? |
Marco, remember, you only have 4 lug nuts per tire at the moment. Maybe I could use that to my advantage :D.
Scott, will do, but it'll have to wait a few weeks. I'm broke. Regarding smoke, I still am wary of the 227,xxx mile valve guides ;). Marco and I "dragged" for a minute, when suddenly, my gas peddle went soft . the ball joint popped off at the tranny - pulled into a gas station and fixed it. My car has a noticeable gain of low and mid end boost and the throttle response is quicker. I saw half of the Valley's police force on the way home, so I did not get to explore things much. The sound is a bit more throaty as well. Something was going down as I went home. All of the side streets off White Oak were blocked by cops and one heli was lighting up the area. Dave |
Hey Dave.
Good to see you're up and running again. Tomorrow afternoon. Bob's Big Boy, Toluca Lake. German Invasion. More details on the "Mulholland RSR" thread. |
