Hey Art,

When are you guys coming to pick up the car? You won't be that far from Memphis! You and Joe can come over for BBQ.

Bigchillcar = Ryan

Ryan might know this car... He lives in Little Rock. He is on here just about every day. Send him a PM.

Jeffrey,
Thanks! I know Ryan and I sent him a PM about this car today. My buddy is having the car shipped to him and it will be here in a week or so.

Shipped? Did he get a PPI? I would want to start it up and drive it around the block before I paid for it. Besides, I love a road trip.

Does this mean we are going to get a new baby brother on the Pelican board?

Jeffrey,
Yep, no PPI, no nothing... I sure hope this turns out to be a decent car. I've invited Bill to bring the car over to my house and I'll walk through the "FAQ" (how to check oil level, how to change oil, spark plugs, etc...) I'll take a look and see if he needs anything right away and I have sent him the link to PelicanParts so he can join up and start learning. I'll show him the "101 Projects" book and recommend that he buy the book and start doing his own maintenance.

Ahem!!! Art, buddy... you forgot to mention having him align himself with the SCWDP! I am sure it was a mere oversight!

My buddy got his car and it's pretty nice, especially considering he got it for $10,000, without a PPI on eBay. He had to replace the clutch cable and the front end had a wobble that was noticeable at 60mph+. I drove the car and it ran well and strong and braked well. The clutch isn't engaging at the right point and so he took the car to Tab Tanner's ship in Findlay, OH on my recommendation so Tab could give the car a good once-over and see if anything is wrong. The paint was bad on the hood, front fenders and decklid, so my buddy decided to let Tab and his body guy fis the body and paint the entire car. He really wanted the car sorted out and Tab is the right guy to do it.

Hey, Art. I'm sure Tab will pick up on this as part of his services, but that belt system for the A/C on your buddy's new car is not the greatest set-up. In its current configuration, it's putting a lot of load on the fan housing and alternator bearings. In this situation, the fan pulley is not transferring power to a puny air pump. Ideally, the belt power for that York should be taken off the crank pulley.

Great car and it looks like a good buy for your friend! Tell him welcome to the SC (and Targa) club.

Wayne and Brian,
Thanks! I'll pass that info along to Tab about the A/C. We're getting ready for my sister's wedding nthis coming weekend, after that we'll be driving the 911 every chance we get as the driving season draws to a close... Actually, the fall is my favorite time to drive the car!
