Thumbs up A/C back up and running..... cold!

well i just put my a/c back together. had to put a new condenser in because my old one had a hole. i am still using the old york compressor (yeah i know) 100% stock with enviro cool freon, 6 dollars per can and is R12 substitute. 95 deg out today and i was cruising around town @ 3000rpm and my vent temp was 40 deg, in traffic the highest i was was 49 deg, i thought that was fairly good for being stock with york compressor

for what its worth

Anthony

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the York isn't a "bad" compressor. Rather, my understanding is that it is inefficient (it robs the engine of HP), big and noisy.

Are you running the original hoses? If so, it'll be interesting to see how long your charge lasts. Keep us posted!

how the H*** do you get it that lowed. My carrera with an after market deck lid condensor and a biggo fan in the tea tray tail. The best I ever got was 54. Most of the evening is around 60. Worst part is that it got a leak somewhere I don't even know yet

i am still using stock hoses. not sure how long the charge will last but if i had to chane one thing it would be the loud york, and yes it does seem to rob power. im just having a hard time upgrading to a better compessor when mine still works.

If it's cooling your cabin, and you can live with the compressor's impact on the car (loud and robs power) then stick with it!

If you ever decide to upgrade the compressor and hoses, Rennaire makes a kit that includes a compressor, adapter plate to fit the York mount, and hoses.
