Door window seal replacement

I am trying to replace the outside rubber seal that some call a squeegee.

Do I pry out the trim that it locks into?

I did a search and couldn't find a conclusive answer.

Yes that trim just prys off. There is a little seal that goes between the metal piece and you vent window, that will come out as well.

Has this been verified, and how exactly do you "pry" this up without damaging anything. I also am replacing the "squeegee" and have reached an impass as to how to insert the new piece. Thanks for the help.

Use a stiff putty knife or screw driver to pry it up. Be careful and it will come straight up.
I wouls suggest putting several layers of masking tape on the paint just below the trim to protect it. the trim lifts up pretty easily so it shouldn't take very much force. Don't dent it or mangle it and it will be an easy 5 minute job.

I just did this.
Take a putty knife and start at the door open end and just slip the knife under the trim, then lift the knife handle up. Work your way down the trim lifting a bit at a time.
I had to trim my new squeegy about a 1/4 inch to fit . Don't cut it too much as it will shrink, so leave it a little oversized.
Replace the other little beed under the windwing at the same time.
There are some little round foam gaskets that go around the fastening clips. mine were still all there but it might not be a bad idea to make or buy some if yours have had it.
There probably there to help stop rattles.

Soon as I read the last several posts I went to tha garage, popped the trim up with a putty knife and was done in 2 minutes. The squeegees were the perfect size and now I don't have to look at that big gaping hole at the end of the window slot (I was getting nervous about rain pouring in there too). Thanks again for all the help, now if you guys would only help me rebuild my 915 tranny (bad second gear syncro) I would gladly buy us all a beer - ha, ha.

I wish I had read this before I placed my order! Now I get to order the small bead of rubber under the 'vent' windows. They, too, appear to be nearly 1" short.
