So I just finished reassembling my transmission - did everything by the book/posts (thanks to MarcA, rcale, JW, et al) checking and rechecking detents, etc.
I'm bench testing the shifting and seem to be able to engage every gear (good). Figure I'd twist the input shaft to make sure I can drive the axles and uh oh, won't turn in gear. In neutral I can see both input and output shaft turning through the access panel, but as soon as I engage any gear, nothing moves. So...what did I do wrong???

maybe it was left in reverse when the 5th/rev shift sleeve/fork/shaft was installed. does it ever get neutral?

Dagnabit - I think you are right (as usual). I pulled it out of 5th when I put the nose on, but in retrospect I think I pulled it into reverse. I'm probably not catching 5th/reverse when I go through the gears. Thanks (again)!

remove the backup light switch and pop the actuating pin inward.
