No HVAC, any recommendations?

Hello!

Living in Hawaii, you can get a bit hot in traffic… I was wondering if anyone has ideas about how to optimize blower airflow into the cabin? Not interested in installing aircon, and yes, I pop the top when it’s not raining… I saw the clock hole blower solution; rather not go that way. I wouldn’t mind removing the blower handing stuff in the trunk and replacing it with a even cleaner/simpler solution…

To clarify; I have a 78’ Targa, no aircon or heater…just the blower…

Any “cool” solutions or products to consider?

Mahalo!

Tom

Cool Air Flow suggestions........

You might consider installing the Griffiths accessory vents. One replaces the "bowtie" in the center of the front firewall and one goes on each end of the dash. To get air flowing, find an old evaporator w/fan and install it in the smugglers box. All you need the evaporator for is to support the fan and mount. The wiring should be in place though you might need to add a relay and or fuse.

Thanks Fred, I'm going to check this out. I was almost considering putting one of those 12V trucker fans in the car... Outch!

You can buy the same vents that Griffiths sells on ebay for less than $10 each, not the outrageous amout Griffiths wants. I'll try to find a link.

Yea baby! Don't laugh - $12 fan from Advance Auto moves a lot of air.

Hey Mark, that doesn't look half bad... Did you hardwire it, or does it connect to your lighter outlet?

Thanks,

Tom

Plugs into cig lighter. Fan is clipped onto a sandwich board I made to go over my alum cup holder.

Marks, does the blower for your ac not work. I took my ac out years ago, but kept the blower just so I could have air blowing on me. Mine works fairly well.

Hi Kurt,

My OEM blower system works fine, I'm simply trying to find a little more airflow; thinking it may keep me a little cooler on hot days. Plus, I was hoping to clean up the trunk blower plastic junk a bit. I end result is that I want one of those nicely painted simple naked front trunks...you may have seen them on other posts...

Thanks,

Tom
