Sunvisor Dilema- Wht to Do?

I have just finished installing a new black headliner in my '70E, and have now realized that my black on one side/ivory on the other sunvisors are not going to look good up there against the black headliner. My sunvisors are original, and amazingly, not puffy like most are. They are the type with no mirror. I understand that these are pretty expensive used. Should I attempt to dye or paint the ivory side, or would the correct thing to do be to sell them or trade for visors that are black on both sides? I see that the new style Wayne sells are listed as working on '74 and later only. Whay can't they be used on an earlier car (although my preference would be to do without the mirrors, anyway, and use parts that are as period correct as possible, and yes, I know black headliners were not available in '70)? Any hints on dyes or paints that would work well?

Any insight greatly appreciated!
-Scott

Make some slip on black elastic banded covers.

Yeah, some covers would do if you did a decent job with them. You have to be careful about putting things on or around the visors or they will deform.
You could also buy a set of used ones that need redoing and save yours. Do a search. A couple of years ago there was a place that did a really good job of refurbishing old ones for a really good price. They had sewed seams around the edges, but looked great. They would seem nice for your application.

Scott - I have the same sort of idea. Get one of Eugene's fine leather smiths to put on a cover. If you ever want to change or it wears out, you will have preserved the original visors under the cover.

I have a selection of crappy, broken visors that a thief sold to me over eBay if you want those.

Take two of the crappy, broken visors and send them here: www.autosunvisors.com. They won't be concours, but they'll look good at least.

I have seen reproduction black/black visors for sale somewhere (it escapes me now) for relatively cheap. I would not alter your nice ones you have now and just put repros on... the black/ivory ones are pricy!
