throttle response issues/ questions
i have a 91 964 that has a characteristic (maybe normal) or problem that either way i'd like to "fix".
when i first start the car from dead cold, the throttle response is snappy and instantaneous. a small stab on the throttle, and the rpms jump and settle down quickly. as it warms up this response gradually declines to a steady state where it's lethargic and there's a time delay between the throttle movement and the response. it rpms are slower to decline also. i wonder if this is normal and if so maybe it's just designed that way for emissions. it seems like it's just too lean. otherwise it seems to run perfect. starts and idles smoothly on either ignition...makes good wide open power...never misses a beat. only has about 65 k miles. i recently had the engine out and did alot of cleaning, set the valves, fixed a few leaks, new dist cap & wires, disassemble & cleaned the intake manifode and cleaned and installed new o--rings, cleaned ISV...fuel pressure is good, it jumps up when the vacuum goes away. my point is i think everything is working properly. it's always behaved like this my opinion is if it has good response cold, then it should have good response warm |
