Townsend Bell vs David Hobbes
What did you think of Townsend Bell as an F1 commentator? He doesn’t have the character or humor of David Hobbes, but I liked the way he presented the driver’s viewpoint. I thought he explained that well. Personally, I hope he comes back.

He needs to speak up alittle more but he was more relevent than Hobbs which hasn't been in FI in 30+ years.

I like them both. While I agree Hobbs hasn't been in F1 for many years, he still seems to be very knowledgeable about the current state of affairs. And, to some extent, racing is racing, & he has done a LOT of racing. There are also times when it is very interesting to hear how "it used to be" in F1/racing.
I also like his humor (or should I say "humour"?). Have you heard him do his Briatore impersonation? VERY funny. And I love it when he talks about a driver having "very large attachments". Having said that, Bell also seems knowledgeable & very articulate. I found his insight during the Italian GP to be interesting. Maybe they should have both of them on all of the time. I would also love for them to have guest commentators from time to time -- former F1 drivers. How about Mario, or Mansell? Prost or Rosberg? Emo? Schumy? I realize most of them are not in the U.S. or may be otherwise committed on a race weekend, but it would be interesting. By the way, I missed the 1st minute or so of the telecast -- where was Hobbs?

His older sister passed away, so he was attending to family.

I thought Bell was great on Friday, but he seemed to be at a loss for words as the weekend progressed. He seemed to have a better grasp on the race than the others. Am I the only one screaming at the TV during the race pointing out the things they're missing?

They were laughing too when the F1 feed missed Hamilton's pass of Kimi.

I had the pleasure of hearing Hobbs and Matchett speak at a local Porsche function where there were adult beverages being served, to say the least Hobbs was great!!! As was Matchett but in a different way. I like Hobbs but I'm a little older so that may be why.

I'll be in the minority here. I love Hobbs. I depend on the others (Matchett and Windsor) for the analysis and Hobbs for the color.
I only watched for a bit but last night on DVR but Bell didn't cut it for me.....
