I'm planning the installation of a 3.6 from a 94 964 into my 79 SC.
I already ordered a set of 1.75" European Racing Headers (no heat) with the adapter for factory type 2 in 2 out muffler. Since the 3.6 is suppose to be longer than the 3.0, I'm wondering if the Triad West muffler will fit between the engine and the stock valence. Has anybody try a similar setup? Is there any other sport muffler which will bolt in these headers and fit properly? Walter

I'd call Triad themselves and find out. I had a Triad with OEM heat exchangers, and it worked very well, if not a bit loud.
As to your second question about what else will fit: if the Triad fits, anything else with two inlets will fit. After all, the Triad 2-2 is a rather large muffler compared to the others on the market. Good luck.

Thanks DD74, but because of the 3.6 is longer than the 3.0 or 3.2, there is less space between the engine and the bumper/valence.
Therefore some muffler design to fit SC's or Carrera's won't work with 3.6. I already spoke to dave from Triad West and he wasn't sure if his mufler will fit my set up.

Triad built me a custom muffler (I have 993 heat exchangers) and I'm sure he would do the same for you. If you take some measurements once the engine is installed, he can probably make some minor changes to the design to work in your application. FWIW, Dave was great to work with.

Jon, thanks but I can't do that.
Steve from Instant-G will do the 3.6 installation. I will drive from Canada to Delaware (Where steve is). Get the engine installed in a week-end and drive back up (faster I hope). So I really need a bolt on solution.
