MSD install, how to get the tachometer running?
Hi, I just made a MSD install in my 74 Carrera, very happy with the install and though I have not tested under normal operation there is a big difference in ease of starting.
My setup MSD 6AL New magnecors 8.5 wires MSD tach adaptor I checked the '73 diagram on Pelican tech info center and it seems that the black with purple is the cable that go to the tach. I tested the MSD tach output and it gives a signal, but when hooking up the cable that sit in the big connector ( close to the old CD box, under the plastic cover left side of engine ) I get no reading on my tach. Any information or advice ?

Hi:
I too, have a '74 Carrera,...(since new).... ![]() Plug the black/purple wire directly into the tach terminal on the end of the MSD box and you'll be good to go.
