Brake Piston Rod

I'm upgrading the single circuit master cylinder on the '66 to a dual circuit MC. When I test fitted the new MC on the pedal cluster it seems like the old piston rod is too long. Even adjusted to it's shortest setting it does not seem to fit. Is this true or am I missing something?

TIA
Martijn

First I have no experience w/ that particular change, but, it is common to need a different lenght rod when a different m/c is installed. You can make one out of a bolt w/ the appropriate dimensions.

I did this swap a few years ago. You have to shorten the old rod. I think it was about 3/4" if I remember. I cut off the threaded end and ran a die to extend the thread a bit. Worked like a charm.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help.

I just checked the parts diagrams here at PP. The later rod is $57. Seems at bit steep to me. Does anyone have the exact length? I'll cut the old one.

Call Will Pringle at CSP, he sells a conversion kit and is a pretty nice guy, he could tell you.
