Opinions on gemini blue please
Hi folks,I know colour is a personal thing but I am about to paint a 71 with an S front spoiler and rs flares My problem is I like to bring it back to original colour
which is gemini blue,'its red now"but I am just not sure how that shade would look on a hot rod type car.I probably like blue metalic better, what do you guys think?Marty |

I could go either way - Met. Blue is a really great color.
But I wound up going with Gemini (that's after looking thru thousands of color chip samples, and some test sprays on the sunroof panel). Yet Another Boring Hot Rod Rgruppe Car - Part V, Exterior & Paint |

I don't even like blue cars particularly and I really, really like Gemini.
This is Gemini I think: ![]() How could you not like that? Also, I like Caribe Blue a lot but it wasn't (I think?) an original color on early cars. Besides if yours started as Gemini and if you are having QUALITY prep work done and a quality spray job done, I doubt you'll ever regret this choice. It is a fine, fine worthy early color.

I'm with Dan, I'm not normally a fan of blue cars, but Gemini on an early 911 is awesome! If I had a Gemini blue 911 that was repainted red, I'd put it back to Gemini in a heartbeat, the ultimate no-brainer.

the color will change with the angle of the sun, clouds, etc.
you would have to put 2 cars side by side over an entire year to see all the nuances between Met. Blue and Gemini... Gemini also has some purple in it, and that will come out in certain lights. |

Marty,
You're welcome. I have a couple more shots of Gemini but also I have some of Caribe (a hotter more aqua color in my opinion) and i have another much lighter blue that someone here has (can't remember the name) but you mentioned liking alighter blue. Anyway, hope this helps: Another Gemini shot: ![]() Caribe #1: ![]() Caribe #2: ![]() Can't seem to find the much lighter blue color photo I had. I'll keep looking.

Dan,
The top picture you posted is Chuck's car at GAF. It's Met. Blue. The second car down is Randy's car also Met. Blue. The last two are Chris Campbells old Gemini Blue Targa. Why he sold it I'll never know. Check out those door gaps.

Bobby, Thanks. I knew that was Chuck's car but always though it was Gemini. That shot was taken at the '05 GAF. Yeah, the door gaps on that car ARE killer good.
There was a white '73 Targa in Verntura Sunday at the back of the grass behind the main road that was in KILLER nice shape this year and I don't even like Targa's. I love my car until I see some other guys, then I almost feel upset about the condition of mine.

Dan,
I was at the show on Saturday. Was that Orange 356 racer still in the Early-S area on Sunday? Who ever did the body work knew what they were doing. No 356 ever came off the line with those gaps. There wasn't a 911 on the lot that could compare. I'm in the middle of body work on my car at the moment and have a new found appreciation for the level of body work on some of these hand made cars. You tack a quarter panel to set the gaps just right and then when your finished welding your gaps have changed from the panel being heated and cooling off. Martin, Which ever way you go you can't loose. Both great colors. Met. Blue is such a signature hot-rod color from the 70's. Many a Chevelle SS, Camaro, or GTO wore the color well not to mention the 911 as well.
