Glass replacement

Good morning, any local Pelicans know of a reputable glass replacement for my Carrera. I've read a few threads about poor quality Mexican glass, and the seal around the glass. I want to make sure it's done correctly with quality glass & seal.
Thanks all, by the way... I'm in SE Ct.

I ordered my seal from Pelican and purchased the glass from a local shop with a good reputation for working on high-end cars. Glass was $250 installed. I'm not sure that price was for the "poor quality Mexican" stuff, but it looks good to me and fits well with no distortion, also includes the tinted top band.

If you do a search on this forum for "windshield replacement", you'll have hours and hours of reading, including some very interesting debates.

a thing you might want to decide first is if you want OEM (e.g. Sigla or Securite sp?) brand glass and then go from there.
Then find the guy that is the best 911 glass installer you can drive to. Ask him what seals/etc. he would recommend. Many Porsche dealers don't do thier own glass and they know the guy who is good and that they send people to, see if you can find out via that path. Never heard of Mexican glass... I don't think OEM on your car had the antenna in the glass, so you don't have that complication.

Installing a windshield in an '84 is so easy my wife can do it. Assuming you use a new OEM seal and glass that fits, you could use any shop that can pronounce Porsh. It's not rocket science. In fact, it's not even windshield science.

This will be an insurance job, (34 years of premiums with one claim, I'm due). I read some threads when I bought the car, (windshield is terribly pitted), and someone mentioned, "the poor quality" of glass produced in Mexico, I didn't just make it up. With all my spare time I'll maybe try to find it.

glass gets pitted...it's a fact of life. If you drive on the freeway for enough miles.. it will be pitted IMHO.

I don't believe my windshield is Hecho in Mexico. Imprint indicates "PPG" and "Sekurit"(or something similar?). The installer supplied the glass.

Well, let me repeat what I said above. Installing a windshield in a 1984 911 is so simple that my wife can do it. Which doesn't mean I'm saying my wife will do it for you but that you can turn yourself inside out finding the Tiffany of windshield shops, the authorized Bugatti Veyron windshield dealer, you can ship the car to Stuttgart but IT DOESN'T MATTER. Go to any good windshield-replacement shop--they're all over the place, they do a thousand cars a month, maybe a week, and ask them, "You ever do a 911?" If they say yes, you're in, and I doubt there's a large windshield shop in Connecticut that hasn't done a 911--probably hundreds.

I suspect you won't do this, because it's a precious Porsche and it's impossible to believe that it doesn't require people named Dieter wearing white shop coat and carrying calipers, but that's my recommendation for a local installer.

If you can't find one, bring it over the river to Cornwall and my wife _will_ do it.

I certainly appreciate the offer Mr. Wilkinson. And I'm sure your wife would do a bang up job.
And no I'm not looking for Dieter in his white shop coat carrying calipers. Hmmm... maybe I should call the glass shop that has replaced the windshield in my Jeep Liberty TWICE and it still sings from a bad seal at speeds above 45 mph. After all, they told me they've done dozens of Porsches.
What I am looking for Mr. Wilkinson is feedback from someone that has knowledge and experience with a glass shop in the area that does do a good job.
