The Daisy Chain Event (Part II)

First trackday of year back in May translated to 12 weeks on jack stands during which time I tended to many items to pave the may towards a larger motor.

Second track day of the year was today. Which resulted in an early retirement due to mechanical difficulties that appear to have put me back into a maintenance cycle. Two issues arose.

1. Left front tire rubbed fender under high loads. Solution grab jack handle and clearance fender. (Result back on track with plenty of clearance but dented fender with boogered paint.)

2. Second session ended with leaking trombone oil cooler. The loop rubbed against the back of the headlight housing and is now leaking.

So the great news is that I am now forced to upgrade the trombone loop to a new larger oil cooler that can support more motor:D This was the last item that I needed to address prior to moving onto the motorwork.

For an oil cooler I am going center mount as I do not wan't to put a cooler in the fender due to dirt road concerns. It is my conviction that excessive mud would be a problem. I think I want to vent under the car for simplicitysake. I have talked to one experienced driver who has done this and reported no adverse consequences at track speeds.

The second issue that I am struggling with is paint. I currently have crappy paint that is scratched, chipped, glazed, and dented. I expect that whilst doing oil cooler install I will end up with some fiberglass that needs painting. Then there are the little things that could be done while at the body shop.

So can anyone offer guidance on the costs for different levels of treatment:
1. Fit fiberglass front and rear bumpers
2. Basic respray fixing 27 years worth of dings

VS fantsy:
1. Vent cooler through hood (ALA Rattlesnak and Chuck)
2. Shave rain gutters
3. Delete sunroof
4. Fit fiberglass bumbers F&R
5. Chop roof install speedster windshield (ALA King of Mullholland)
6. Lightly flare fenders
7. Color change

Also if you are aware of good threads on oil cooler installs please post them here. I will add links to this thread as I find good install write ups.
