Dirt,

Yes, your symptoms match exactly what a failed alarm system module does ... cuts power when the ignition switch returns to the 'run' position!!!

Does anyone know if the wire from 86 on the relay goes straight to the factory alarm?
If so I will check at the pull everything out so I can get to the factory alarm and check to see if I have power on that wire between the alarm and pin 86 of the dme relay.

I think am geeing closer to having run again!!---
Can any one tell me where the alarm is mounted on the 87 911? I removed a black box (3.5x1.75 inchs) Sachs 618.113.00 on the passenger side fender wall not the firewall beside the duct work. It has a 11 pin connector and does not look like the box in the picture in the above link.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction I think I am getting close to fixing this electrical problem?
Does anyone have a electrical diagram?

Problem solved ---Thanks for all who helped this place is a great resource and community.

It was the factory alarm the was fried. I pulled out the fresh air system and found the alarm box. My neighbor who is a EE checked over the board on the alarm and immediatley found a burn mark under the diode. He replaced the diode and blown out tracer and we tested--Wella she started up!!!!! Then it was just the reassembly process and a test drive.

Now on to the dead radio it looks like a trip to a car audio place.

I will never hook jumper cables backwards again I can tell you that!!
