Plug Wires
Getting ready to do a full tune up on my "new" 73 T, (CIS injection), and wondering what the best wires are?
Can I get MSD wires for the Porsche engine? I can't find a part number for the car, will a generic 6cyl kit work, or are the ends different? I have 8.5MM super conduction on my 55 Jag and love them. Thanks for your thoughts!! |

best?
hit search for many opinions -- I would pay attention to posts by Grady Clay, Steve Weiner, Henry/Supertec, and a few others. |

It is my understanding that the pre stainless shielded oem (Beru) wires will work as well as the recommended braided wires for 1/2 the price. The added shielding was to help aid in RF noise supression, but with no discernible difference. I just purchased a set from our host and installed on my 74' 2.7 with pleasing results, although I have Webers. Save yourself $100, here's the part #

I did a search. Someone had mentioned using MSD wires which is why I brought that up, I can't find any part number for them that have the longer connector at the plug end.

I just bought these for my 1973.5. They work great.

I put MSDs on my car when I had their CDI installed. That was about 2 yr and 8000 mi ago. So far they have been just fine. I think they were listed for a Chevy 6. You can tell by measuring the lengths.

I have an earlier version of Clewett wires on my 2.2S, they are great, no problems at all.
Just bought a set of the same type from our host for my 3.2 Motronic, and expect they will be fine. I see no reason to pay twice that for plug wires. The spark is gonna get there either way, and as long as it is not arcing elsewhere, i am a happy guy... ![]()
