1. Pass My exam on Dec. 1st (if I fail 2,3,4,5 are post poned)
2. Finally rebuild my 3.2L carrera engine. Its only been apart in boxes for 2 years.
3. Install an upgraded oil cooler in the SC to handle the 3.2.
4. April 15th have a running moving 911 for the psuedo first time ever!
5. I also have some carpet to install and other details but if the car moves and has a license plate I'd drive it in primer at this point.

Not too bad. Mine were stuck in pretty well where they go from the engine over the cross member and come out under the car. Seemed to be glued to the engine sound pad.

My project for the winter is to finish re-finishing my early Carerra tail so the Weissach looks proper again. And to start stripping all the paint from my 930 roller.

1. Trans to JW for synchros, etc.
2. Oil return tubes
3. Clean, clean, clean
4. The usual while I'm in there seals & stuff
5. Engine tin powercoating
6. Rennaire system
7. ????

This winter's or last winter's?

JeremyD 10-12-2007 10:25 AM

I'm on the opposite side of this - Today I drove the cabriolet to work for the first time in 3 months = Winter to me means comfortable top down motoring. If I do anything project related it will be to install new barrier hoses so I can get the AC nice and running by the time spring rolls around.

gtc 10-12-2007 10:57 AM

The usual...
1. Rebuild the suspension and brakes
2. Replace the bushings in that pesky shift coupler
3. Engine rebuild

Fidalgo911S 10-12-2007 11:14 AM

Underway as of last week for the '74S:

Full engine rebuild (stock)
Bare metal repaint with rear flares
New carpet
New headliner
Repaired dash
Install 7 & 8's
Plus all the "while I'm there" stuff I can do until July 4th '08

Goal: '74 US Carrera clone

Here's my winter list:

Fit SSIs and M&K muffler - can't wait!
Backdate the heating for the SSIs.
Get a SW chip when budget allows (i.e. after christmas).
Changed steering wheel for Nardi I bought last year.
Adjust hand brake.
Change tranny oil.
Valve adjustment - gunna try the backside method.
General service.

I just can't wait to get going with it all!

This will be my first winter of Porschedom, so I'm going to pace myself. A few easy projects:

1) Re-finish wheels (any good shop suggestions in the Southeast - MS / TN / GA / AL?)
2) Install Aero mirrors

DaddyGlenn 11-01-2007 12:41 PM

My "winter" is between my last AX event a couple weeks ago and my next sometime in January.

My list (in no particular order and as budget permits):

Regrind cams (964 profile) and all that entails
Replace suspension bushings
Stiffer torsion bars
Driver's side door latch replacement
CV joint replacement
Replace engine bay gaskets
Lower and corner balance
Turbo tie rods
New Bilstens
maybe a little body work

Who am I kidding? I'll be lucky to get half of that done.

Too much to list on the C3, but hopefully in December/early Jan I can:
  • Drop engine and box
  • Regear a little bit to get a better cruising ratio (maybe)
  • Take off intake and replace gaskets, overhaul injectors
  • Engine service inc valves
  • Fit 964 cams
  • Fix couple of oil weeps/leaks
  • Fit MSD
  • Fit high-torque starter
  • Remove old exhaust system
  • Modify/replace rear valance, then fit SSIs and this:

John, or anyone else... how much difference does the change from SC to 964 cam profiles? I know how cams help in general, but I am mainly after "is it worth it" info... My car is a basically stock 83 3.0.

jhubs 11-01-2007 04:37 PM

V8,
My list is a short one;
1. Fix the sunroof cable and replace the sunroof seals so it will open next spring .
2. Get my nephew to roll my front fenders...I'm too weak!
3. View your posts and pictures about your "smoothed bumpers!"

SCWDP911 11-01-2007 04:56 PM

I need to add to my list possibly redying my interior as someone else mentioned. Mine is getting a little worn in a few places...:(

pwd72s 11-01-2007 05:31 PM

1. Keep the yard clean (mowing, leaf removal, driveway debris removed, etc.)

2. Do whatever else I feel like doing, because I no longer have a P-car that demands slave-like attention..

Remove dash, send for recovering, and reinstall.

Install premuffler & sport muffler, cutting opening for 2nd outlet.

Install SW chip.

Remove bumperettes & install custom license plate lights.

Clean & paint brake calipers

Fix glove box lid, replace rear seat belt covers, clean rear seat belt screws, and misc. other interior detailing.

Think about replacing headliner.

Maybe think about window tint.

Oh, and change the oil & filter again.

Shaun @ Tru6 11-01-2007 06:00 PM

thanks Shane, it's very much on again off again with work sucking up all my time. This was the last project I tackled some time ago:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/354578-early-engine-bay-electrical-panel-restoration.html

I should be able to start in earnest just after Thanksgiving.

Just cleaned out the garage last weekend in prep for restarting.
