Loose Shifter

Would someone please let me know which part I need for my loose shifter. I have narrowed it down to a part that fits "914-424-224-00-M260 Shift Rod Bushing in Tunnel Behind Shifter, 912E, 911 (1974-86), 911 Turbo (1976-88)", but the years fall short of 1987 3.2. I need the correct part number or at least part name. The shift rod is now going through an opening without a bushing and hitting metal on metal thanks to me missing second gear and knocking the bushing out.

THANKS !!!!!

I'm not sure if you mean #2 or #20. I replaced part #2 and #10 with some fresh grease and made a big difference.

My '88 recently did the metal to metal clunk and while I was in there, replaced 2, 10 and the two small o-rings. Pretty easy except for finding the console screw under the E-brake lever. Ken

When you replace the large bushing in the L-shaped piece of metal just behind the shifter base, boil it for a few minutes, which softens the poly enough that you can easily get it into the hole in the metal. I just did mine yesterday.

I had a similar problem with my 73. I replaced the bushings in the linkage, a new shifter coupling and the shifter still flopped around when I drove over rough road or RR tracks. I finally narrowed it down to bad trans mounts. After replacing both engine and both trans mounts, the shifter is nice a tight and doesn't flop around anymore.
