5 amp fuses

Where do you guys buy your little yellow 5-amp fuses? I can't seem to find them stocked in any of the local autoparts stores. Can't even special order them. And our host (at least via website) doesn't list them for sale, either.

Got mine at a BAP autoparts, not sure if they are national, but they specialize in European - mostly VW parts. If you have a local parts store that does VW's they should have them.

Well, Pep Boys, Kragen, and AutoZone don't seem to qualify, then. Thanks.

I got all of the fuses for my "fuse refresh" project at NAPA. The main store in our city had them all in stock.

Regards,
David

+1 on NAPA. I just picked up a small box of 5 amp fuses. They weren't stocked on the floor -- had to get them from behind the parts counter. $1 per fuse!

Lots of people just use the white 8 amp fuses, available from dealers and independents.

Here is what I had to do, if you find a variety pack of the Bussman "European" fuses there is one yellow 5 AMP fuse in it, I needed two so I bought two of the packs. I found one pack at Auto Bone and the other at Pep Boys.

This does not give the circuit and its components the protection they are supposed to have. If you don't mind replacing whatever is on the other end - or maybe even having a small fire to put out, using oversize fuses is a good way to get there.

If Pelican doesn't have them, you can order from Stoddards.

Lots of people are foolish to substitute an 8 Amp fuse for a 5 Amp.

You have to by the Emergency Pak at Pep Boys, it has a couple of the 5 amp ones.

I bought two of them one in my baby and one in my tool box.

Thanks for the replies. I found the "European Fuse Emergency Pack" at Pep Boys. They have a single 5-amper in there, along with the other sizes. I've got some sort of short in my left front turn signal, so in trying to trace it down, I've gone through about 4 of the 5-amp fuses already. Not keen on substituting with an 8-amp. I've got plenty of 8-, 16- and 25-amp fuses in blister packs. I just need a pack of those little guys. Will try BAP & NAPA. Again, thanks.

You might want to use two test leads (alligator clips on each end) with less expensive fuses. Then when you figure your problem out you can resume use of the ceramic fuse.

Pelican doesn't sell the 5 amp fuses individually, but they are available as part of this fuse kit.

I noticed your location is in L.A. Is there a Pelican Shop I can visit?

You can order online or on the phone, then come by and pick up your order the next day or two (will call). But we don't have a "store" where you can walk in and shop.

Cool can do "Will Call", I just hate going to the valley in traffic.

Actually I am glad there is no store front, I would be hanging out there too much, LOL
