this is cool news except it doesn't make my un-cracked '74 dash that special anymore...

What would be really great is a replacement for the fresh air controls that isn't so confusing.

I've been reduced to the fresh air control mounted on the door.

At some point I will take apart that darn system and make it work right again, but there are too many things in line ahead of it right now.

Yes, it sure does retain its value because yours is original!!!

The new ones will not be the same quality nor fitment since they will be made by a different vendor.

Does anyone know the difference between 1975 and 1976 dash's? I seem to recall that 1976 is kind of one-off. But I am sure someone knows more than I? I assume the 1975 dash will fit, it would just not be 'correct'.

Thanks

76 dash has no speaker grill and no center vent.
69-75 dash has a separate speaker grill.
77+ dash has a center vent (with some variations in center vent size and defrost vent configuration through the years).
Any dash from 69-85 will fit a 76, but won't be correct.

I think eventually Porsche Classic will also do a dashboard for the later cars.

What I want is a dash face plate set for a right hand drive 911SC. NLA right now.

The ones they sold previously didn't fit. We'll see about these.

It is interesting that Porsche is showing more love to the classic car market. The motor oil, the radio head unit and now this. If you were in product development for Porsche, would these 3 things be the first on the list?

Maybe they think the most common thing you notice on an old 911 is a cracked dash.

Perhaps they will do a complete body. Now that would cause things to get interesting.

There are tons of parts they have recently started making again that didn't make it to the news or even the Porsche classic website. For example about a year ago they made 60 new 912E mufflers. The last production run before that was 1984.

912Es have shot up to frankly insane prices lately, even rivaling the late 911SCs and 3.2s...it's rare and cool, but it's not *that* cool...

(I'm just jealous 'cuz I want one)

I am sure they won't be making any 69 dashes.

They're not making these parts because they love us. They do it to make money.

Let's see if this batch of dashboards fit any better than the crap they sold us last year.

Next they'll be claiming to have created a new Porsche Classic aircooled engine that doesn't leak oil.
