Porsche Bodywork Guys...best method of sanding? Tools to use?

Hi all,

I'm sanding some filler from my newly welded on flares. I know block sanding is the correct method, but there are virtually no flat surfaces where I'm sanding. What are you guys using to sand? Any special tools?

Use a DA (Dual action) with a soft backing pad for contours. Sounds like you skipped the cheesegrator step in roughing out the shape of the filler prior to full cure. If you need to remove a lot of filler a Jitterbug can be used also.

I like starting with a 16" sanding file using 40 grit. Make sure you sand in different directions. I like to cross hatch across the valley. Then I move to 80 grit with the same file and finally I take 150 grit and nice round object like a role of 2" duct tape with the sand paper taped around it. I sweep the role downward across the valley.

Here is a good website for autobody help and questions:
http://www.autobody101.com/forums/

Interestingly enough I read a thread from someone asked about using a palm (jitterbug) sander. The feedback was unanimous concerning that tool…absolutely no. Anyways, that was their opinion
