Replacement Horn for 911SC
After installing a Carrera-style oil cooler in the right front fender, I found there was little room to securly mount the 2 OEM horns. I got them mounted, but cracked one of the horn frames and now need to replace that horn. I would like to find a smaller horn, or horns to replace both long horns for ease of fit, while retaining reasonable horn volume.
Pelican lists only the 2 OEM horns when I do a parts search. I can find other horns for different models and years, but don't know if they could be direct replacements. I've found various horn kits, including new relays and fuses, but prefer to find horns which are direct plug-in, if they are available. Any suggestions or experience? Thanks, Fritz

I wouldn't mind finding something similar. I found very little room for the horns after my Carrera cooler install.

i was thinking of one of these for my beck spyder. seems to be small enough, though plenty loud.

Yes, I saw that thread in a search. That blaster looks easy enough to mount and wire-up, but I'm looking for a "plug-in" substitute which has volume and tone similar to the OEM horns. I rarely feel the need to blast a warning to others, finding defensive driving and solid vehicle control enough to avoid most hazards. A lite double tap is usually enough to alert errant drivers.

I have a plain jane horn from the local autoparts store. $11. Works fine and has a decent tone. If I remember correctly, it wasnt a difficult install at all using stock location. I think I had to re-situate the mounting bracket.

I removed the factory horns on my SC due to the same constraints as you. Went to Pick and Pull and found a host of Mercedes and BMW horns for cheap. I paid 10 bucks for a high and low set that have the same twin spade plugs as the factory FIAM horns. They ended up being Hella horns off of a 7 series BMW. They are way smaller than the stockers and twice as loud. Good thing to have in a small car.

fumanchu and kemo, your solutions are similar to what I had in mind. I want 2 horns (high & Low) which are smaller, but with sufficient volume to be heard.
Has anyone installed the hi/low Hella horns which I often see for sale in various Porsche catalogues, or the hi/low horns for the 924 shown here? ![]()

People will laugh at this, but what the hey......
When I removed my horns, I chose to use the tiny horn I removed from the car's alarm system. It's a little puck horn that's originally fastened to the front crossmember, underneath the belly pan. It's a high pitch sissy Japanese-car sounding horn.......... ![]()

I've got that on my car. I never knew what it was for. I'm not sure I want that for my primary horn, but I'll give it a try to see how it sounds.
