Petite LeMans Pics

Oh man, what a race ! After a 1,000 miles to have 1st and 2nd place less then a second apart is unbelievable. It was almost surreal sitting there in Turns 10a/10b for the last 20 laps watching and listening and waiting to see if the RS could catch the Audi. It was great to also have the jumbotron TV right there so you could see the action from the rest of the circuit as well.

ALMS puts on a great event and I highly recommend the Petit for anyone who has a chance to go.

Pictures from Friday can be found on this link:

Here's a sampling of pics from yesterday.

Here's the last couple. Even though it was difficult I did manage to shoot some of my 400+ pics of non-Pcars

I think it's a Maserait, no? Sounds like an amazing event. Got to see ALMS once in Portland, would love to again but I don't think they'll be coming back to PIR.
Thanks for the pics.

It's a Maserati C-12. Unfortunately it retired after some mechanical issues and then going off (coming out of T12 I think) but while it was on the track it was fast and looked great !

Here's a pic from Friday as it was heading into tech:

The DP cars only wish they looked that good and were that fast. I remember seeing that car at Mid Ohio a few years ago, it's gorgeous.

Doug, great shots. The last shot in the 3rd group, is that from T3 at the top of the hill?

Doug

Watched some of the race over here in the UK - the whole race was live on Motors TV (the Speed TV coverage) - great race and a huge crowd turnout.

Had hoped to have been over for the race, and the NASCAR you have at the end of the month. Unfortunately, my trip to Alpharetta (my company is based there) is now lookig to be w/c 12th November, so I guess there is little to no racing on around then.

Any good P-Car spots for me to visit when in Alpharetta.

Hopefully over next April for the NHRA Drag Racing

Ian

Thanks guys. I'm still sorting through the rest of them and will post some more later on.

John - yes, I was standing on an embankment so I was able to get above the fence line.

Great shots Doug! I'll be sure and post mine tomorrow night.

Petit certainly made up for craziness in the World Challenge races on Friday! I don't want to spoil it for anyone that wants to watch it next weekend on SPEED, but I was SOAKED Friday afternoon.

The sun was pretty brutal for October, but was a great race. It couldn't have been much nicer after the sun went down though. The end was great, holding second place behind the finish at Sebring this year.

Awesome pictures Doug thanks. I was watching on the tube and was excited as hell seeing the Masarati. Lista Int. is a customer of mine in Holiston, Ma. (They have two of their IMSA cars from days past in the lobby, both Ferraris I believe). But when it went out creating the yellow which essentially cost the Spyder the overall victory I was bummed Also the Fyling Lizards I noticed wear a small decal of the company I work for

I agree it was a fantastic day out and those closing laps were great. It's a bit of a shame that the yellow came out for the Maserati crash otherwise the Porsche may well have won again having a 30 second lead over the Audi at that point. Never mind, there's always next time...

I have some more off-track pictures here.
