Trying to locate Previous owner 2.2S

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to locate the previous owner(s) of the Porsche 2.2 S 911 1301 311.
I'm living in Belgium and the only thing I know about this car, it's that it came fro m USA to Holland in 2002 then to Belgium in 2003. Previous owner who sold me the car doesn't know anything too about the history of the car.

Thank you in advance.

The Early S registry might help. Drop them a line with your questions and see if you get a response.
Failing that, you might have to obtain a COA from the factory, find where it was originally delivered (dealer) and then do some more intense investigative work tracing the cars travels.

Sorry, mine went to Europe as well. Through no fault of my own, I should add. I sold it to a flipper in NorCal who said he was going to keep it. Hah! No matter, once sold, I have no control and that wouldn't have stopped me form selling the car anyway.

The value of the cars is so high in Europe because of the weak dollar that it's hard to resist.

I just checked the Early S Registry listing and your car does not appear there (although the #1309 and #1310 cars are listed). So be sure to join the Registry and add your car to the list.

If the car ever was registered in California, you can obtain vehicle registration information (registered owners' names, smog check history, mileage at registration dates) by filling out form INF70 available here:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/formsinfo.htm

You need to fill out Section A and C to obtain vehicle info based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Request both the automated record ($5) and the photocopy of hardcopy and/or microfilm records ($20). The reason to request both is that the automated records only go back to the early 90s. Theoretically, the hardcopy/microfilm goes back further, but I have heard that the State ran out of funds so not all information is available. If they don't have the records they will send your check back to you. You must state a valid reason for the request, which can be a simple as "Researching vehicle history for restoration."

I believe other states have a similar program, so if you have any information about which states it might have been it, you might check with their state department of motor vehicles. But lots of Porsches were sold in California, so you might get lucky trying there first.

If I ever find the "S" matching car there will be a motor/car reunion with much rejoicing. As for now, I'll keep polishing my hidden gem.

Actually a lot of the early microfiche was damaged/lost in a fire I believe. I tried this route on my 70. I tried to get the 70-75 info since I have all of the original registrations from 75 to present.

Even though I know the car was originally registered in Cal, DMV was unable to provide the information. (I have the original plates with the 70 tags matching the 75 to present registrations)

I don't even want to know. Nope, I don't want to know. I...I....how much did it go for?
