Forthcoming Engine Drop.......

I am planning an engine/transmission drop in the near future. I just got this ATV jack from Sears to use lowering the drivetrain. It has a lift range of 3" to 19" with 3 or 4 locking levels. It is aluminum and only weighs about 42 pounds. Lift capacity is 1500 lbs. Hopefully this will make the actual drop happen without any fuss or bother!

I will need to make a "filler" piece to rest in the middle to take most of the load off the heat exchangers.

A number of people have used that method with a piece of 3/4" plywood across the middle.

You can cut a piece of 3/4 plywood in the shape of a T that will cover the bottom of the eng and trans. It makes it easier to balance everything

Make sure the handle clears the muffler or remove the muffler before you drop, otherwise when the engine comes down, it will pivot where the muffler hits the handle and rock from side to side, could come off the jack. Be very careful.

Next time I do a drop I'm going to use a high-lift jack and one of the adapters Pelican sells.
