2008 GT3 Serial number one?

So a friend of mine just called me. He was on the waiting list to buy a 2007 GT3. When one came up he declined due to other reasons but told porsche to keep him in the loop. He then received a call (not sure when because I have not talked with him in months) and was asked if he was interested in a 2008 GT3. He thought about it and before he said no, they told him it was serial number one which he then said sold. Now, is this possible? I mean I would think that this car would not be available to the public based on it being the so-called number one????
He is having it shipped to Ca where he will the drive it to vegas. I'm hoping to god I can get out there and drive it.
