911 stall at idle

engine stalls at idle when coming to a stop and is hard to restart
if I gear down and allow the engine to go to 1000 rpms and then depress the clutch it does not stall
it does run a little rough or sputters at a steady speed in 2nd and 3rd say 2000- 3000 rpm.

1977 911 s 72K original miles great looking car

is this a fuel problem

Too many possibilities here w/o more info. did this just start happening? Is the engine fully warmed up? When did you last have a tuneup?

Some possibilities include fuel filter, pump or injectors, and ignition components.

Very often this is down to vacuum leaks, and/or a bad Decel Valve, or an incorrect mixture.

If you have points, what is their condition?

I see you are new. Welcome, post some pictures of your car, use the search button to find out more info, and give us more to go on regarding your problem.

My 1977 911S did the same thing a few weeks ago - it was the point gap
