shifter adjustment

Any folks using a Rennshifter got good tips for gear selection adjustment?

Stock shift and link with new bushings/coupling worked fine on my 911 sc(915)
Rennshifter happily goes 1-2-3-4 but no reverse or 5th whatsoever.
Rennshift manual mentions adjustments but doesn't specify what/how.

thanks.

That needs to be adjusted on the shift coupler most likely. Do you know where to do this?

Steely,
I have a Rennshifter, and found it to be very "touchy" on the rotational adjustment at the coupler. Suggest you do the first gear adjustment and just rotate a tiny bit at a time until 5th/rev appears.

I had the opposite problem on first setup, nicking the rev when coming out of 5th. I made an almost imperceptible change in the coupler rotation and the problem dissapeared completely.

You can do it.

I replied to your e-mail but I received a failure notice.

The instruction sheet assumes that you have a service manual when working on/upgrading a car of this age. Sorry you think it is "sparse."

The shift coupler is inside the tunnel just in front of the rear seats. Remove the cover to gain access. Two 13mm wrenches are used on the clamping bolt and nut. This will allow freedom between the shifter position and the transmission position. When aligned as desired the clamp locks the two together.

Do the adjustment with the transmission in 3rd gear. Loosen the clamp bolt and allow the shifter springs to center the stick. Tighten and test.

The fore/aft position of the lower stick should be near vertical for proper reverse lockout operation. Observe the lockout action while shifting and adjust as needed to mimic the GIFs shown on my site (see bottom of this post).

Thanks for the practical tips folks.

I do have the Bentley manual, and just for kicks removed everything and checked it.
Then put the old shifter back on and went through the adjustment/setup and
that was fine.

Tomorrow I will try the Rennshifter again.
