price check 78 3.0 ltr and 915 trans
I need some help with price ranges for the motor and trans listed below
I have a guy interested in purchasing my 78 3.0 ltr engine that is in need of a rebuild. The motor turns over and is an excellent candidate for a rebuild as indicated when I purchased it a few years ago for a project that has since died. I also have a SC 915 transmission with mount that was sold to me as being in good condition but again I have not proof of this. I also have a set of 911 E Magnesium MFI stacks and throttle bodies (I purchased these for the dead MFI 3.0 liter race motor project) That I am also considering selling to this guy so an estimate of value on these would also be appreciated. Thank again in advance to all the Pelicans

I am looking to do the same with my motor, except I know what it needs, head machining & valves, pistons, and normal stuff.
I have heard 2-3k for a good core, but would like to hear from others. |

On the motor, hard call without seeing it, there is right now someone selling a 3.0 in the parts for sale,- 78k miles, strong runner, with webers, -some oil leaks, for 4700, -if I looked at your motor and thought it was a "good re-build" canidate, I would offer 2-3k for it.

I forgot to mention that it no longer has the CIS injection system or the exahust system. I sold them some time ago when I planned to use an MFI set up. But everything else is there.

I can review the 915 for you if need be and provide a detaield inspection report. The gear ratios and differential, and the case can severly impact the value of the transmission. What is the gearboxes id code and it should give a look into what it's worth.

Gbox, I will check the trans numbers. What would you charge to take a look at a transmission? I also have a mag 915 and a late 80's G50 5 spd I plan to sell.
On another note have you ever installed one of Guard Transmissions G50 6 speed Dog Gear racing systems? I am looking at doing this for my race car and may also be interested in inverting it or at least learning what it would take to do it.

Since you are local member sir,
I would take a look at it free of charge. We are not a very long haul from you in Loveland, and I live just southeast of Loveland by about 15-20 minutes. I can also provide a detailed inspection and estimate for each gearbox. We can do a rebuild, or at least a repair of any damage in the gearboxes for you, and that would come with a warranty that you could extend to any buyers. Feel free to contact me directly. |
