steering wheel alignment

I need to re-align my steering wheel straight relative to the wheels due to the previous owner installing an after market steering wheel which I have removed to reinstall the stock one. The stock steering wheel I have installed is right in between notches on the steering wheel splines so I can't do it that way. I have already tried that and it is either too much to the left or too much to the right when seated. Can someone who is knowledgeable in alignment use a picture and give an "alignment for dummies" version of what nuts I need to turn and which way on the tie rods to turn the steering wheel a little bit to the driver's side to straighten it out.

You'll have to fiddle with your outer tie rods ... although it will screw up your toe settings...
Jack up the car and put the front on stands and turn either one of your outer tie rods until your steering is centered again.
Make sure you mark the locking nut and count how many turns you did in case you turned it the wrong way.

Best way is still to go for an alignment at a good Porsche shop !

Cheers !

To attempt to maintain correct toe setting you can turn the tie rods on both sides by the same amount. (eg. In two turns on the left, out two turns on the right.) Take toe measurements before you start and check when you are done. I've done this on a non- P-car with success.

i need to move my steering wheel about 5 degrees...any idea about how many turns that equates to in the tie rods? I realize they need to be moved the same and in the same direction...just would like to get a suggestion on how many turns it takes (ballpark) rather than just shooting in the dark.
