Mystery Vacuum line

1979 sc

I have two lines going in to the throttle body. One goes to the Distributor and one terminates with a screw stuck in it - I can't find its buddy with the other screw stuck in it.

In the spirit of fixing PO fixes - blower motor has a lead taken off and duct taped
(of course) over - what gives? any reason to do this - any way to verify the motor is not shorted before I plug it back in?

Then - instead of a new thread let me throw this in - I was adjusting the parking brake shoes and managed to lock up a rotor - tried jiggling the cable to free no deal. Short of putting the wheels on and moving it any ideas?

to appease the BBS gods, a shot of the old girl

Vacuum line on the back of the TB goes left to the cruise control servo, and right to the AAV. People often plug the AAV line with a screw.

Blower Motor is probably disconnected because it's shot, and taped over for your protection. They have been known to cause fires when they go out.

I believe '79SC engines don't have cruise control servo. The vacuum line similar to that of the distributor could be for any of the following: WUR, Thermo valve, or Diverter valve. Good luck.

How were you adjusting the parking brake? Via the star wheel inside the rotor or by adjusting the length of the cable itself? Go inside the car and disconnect the cable(s) at the handle assembly itself if you have to.

Sure they did, I don't know how many still do though.

I was adjusting at the star wheel - passenger side went fine, tightened til it wouln't turn, backed off 4 or so "clicks" went to do drivers and it didn't seem to want to tighten - tried the hand brake and locked the passenger side - driver's side works well enough to pass inspection.

You are right no Cruise Control - not seeing any evidence of a disconnected line off the WUR WUR would have been my first guess. Idle hunts when engine is cold
thanks for all the input - guess I'll get back to probing around when I get a free weekend - trial by fire for the rookie - I guess it serves me right for hitting so many projects at once
