Clutch replacement tomorrow morning, anything else I should look for?

So my clutch has been slipping and it's time to get it fixed. I have an 88' 911 Turbo Look with 80K miles on it. Tomorrow morning Tom Amon will be showing up and we're dropping the engine to replace the clutch. Since the engine will be removed I've asked him to also install a new sound pad (stock one is non-existant) and also do the valve adjustment for me.

Is there anything else (within reason) that I should change or replace while the engine is out of the car? I'm already stretching my maintenance budget for this year so anything small that I need to take care of would be cool. He said that he'll replace a couple of things and check others as part of the normal check and balance.

I'm getting excited, can't wait to put on my garage wear and get greasy

Holy nice paint job.

You could chage:

1. Main seal,
2. all clutch components (including master and slave cylinders)
3. All seals and o rings at top of engine where oil breather hoses go in
4. Oil pressure idiot light at the top of the engine
5. Head temp sensor
6. Put in new seals for the rockers shafts
7. Tune up and valve adjustment
8. Check your timing chains, tensioners,
9. The list is endless but one more thing: get the model to change to a bikini, reshoot, and repost.

Hmm, out of that list, the last one is the easiest and least expensive

BS, nothing about a woman is inexpensive. To get her into a bikini would cost much more than a $37 main seal, or $35 idiot light sensor. Trust me on that one.

Paul:

Very nice chicky babe, very nice car. My '89 just went in for an engine drop to replace the clutch throw-out bearing. The shop is going to call tomorrow with an assessment of what else they think should be done 'while they're in there'. I'll post the results...

thanks for the suggestions guys. As we speak Tom has pulled the engine. Watching this guy work is incredible. Iv'e seen 3-4 guys try balancing an engine as it's lowered from the car. Tom does it all by himself. I asked him if he needed a hand, his reply, "Nah, I got it"

I'll have some pics and a short video clip of the engine coming down later.

Paul, how did the clutch job go? What other parts did you end up replacing?

The clutch job went very well. It was alot of fun watching Tom Amon do his thing. That guy is a master at his craft. I can't remember off the top of my head all the little stuff that he replaced, I know that he replaced the thermostat o-ring, main seal, S-hose, and other small stuff. He also added an insulation pad per my request, the engine compartent looks alot cleaner now. He adjusted my valves and replaced the rear deck lid shocks which weren't holding the tail up anymore. All this took 5 1/2 hours. My intentions were to jump in and get greasy too but after watching him just FLOW through everything I thought I would just interfere so I just watched.

I'll put some pictures and a short video together tonight and post.

Can you please see if all the parts were included on an invoice of some sort? I need to do this same job on my '87.
