Carrera Wheel Fitment

Have a question about Carrera wheel/tire fitment. I currently have front/back - 6/7's (205/225) Fuchs and am looking to go to 7/9's (225/245) Fuchs.

I’ve gone through the posted wheel data and have done the math on paper and it looks like the outside of the rear tire will be around 3/4 in further out with the noted configuration versus my current setup. Does that sound to be correct? Any thoughts whether the wheels will fit on the back without having to roll the fenders? If there is clearance, how much is enough when taking into consideration wheel/tire side movement? Also, my rear fenders look to have a 1/4" lip whereas my fronts have a 1/2" lip. Is this typical? Thanks.

Unless your car is extremely low you should have no problem fitting 9 inch Fuchs in the rear on a 245/45 tire.

The front, however, may be tight with a 225/50 on a 7 inch Fuch. While some have made it work, you would be better off to be safe and go with a 205/55 in the front.

I have 8's with a .25 inch spacer and have no issues at all. My fender lip measurement is 25" from the floor.

Oh Haha, thanks for the reply, you have a great looking SC. I'm assuming that your 25in ride height is for your rear fender. My 911 was setup by the previous owner for the track so I'm below euro height, which I don't believe will work with the 9's.

If anyone else has a photo of their SC or Carrera with a 7/9 Fuch configuration, would appreciate a post on your tire sizes and info on ride height and throw in a photo if you have one. Thanks.

There is no need to be concerned about using 9s on the back of an SC/Carrera at any height there is a lot of room there. 7s on the front can be tight, 8s real tight

Thanks for the reply. I've been searching the forums and have read a number of your posts on this subject.

What is the minimal amount of fender to wheel clearance required when taking into consideration wheel lateral movement?

My .02:

The minimum I would accept would be .5 inch. I actually raised my front a little bit last night as I thought my DS front rubbed a bit on my last outing.

The rears will not cause any real problems unless you try to stuff larger than a 275 in there or your car is extremely low.

The fronts will be a problem if you get the wrong size. Also, as you may have read in other threads, tires DO vary by maker. 245/16 by Bridgestone could be slightly wider/narrower than a Goodyear of the same size.

The TireRack website lists all of the critical specs so you can see exactly what is what for a specific size/brand.
