Ignition tuning Help needed!
Does anyone have an ignition map that I could use as a guide to tune my 11.5 to 1 compression twin plug 964 based 3.8 running 94 octane? Also what is the maximum amount of advance that I should be using.

Search on my username and keyword "adaptronic." I posted a screenshot of my ignition/load/rpm map. I'd expect you'd top out at around 32 degrees but to go further you'd want to have it on a dyno or logging knock sensing while driving.

I searched and didnt find anything.. Anyone else have any input? What kind of advance curve should I be looking at?

Mine is for a 3.0 11.5:1 twin plug on EFI. You will see my advances go as high as 34 degrees, but that is after extensive work at the dyno. |

Unless you can find a similar engine build in a similar car using similar fuel, you're better off discovering this yourself on a chassis dyno with a knowledgeable operator.
Maximum advance is one element. The spark curve getting to the max is another. You don't want to introduce any detonation during this curve. It will do harm to your engine. Another variable a dyno should track is the air/fuel mixture. You don't want to combine lean mixtures with too much spark lead at any point in the rpm range. Sherwood |
Thanks for the advice... I have a wideband 02 sensor hard wired in the car so Air fuel mixtures and running lean are not a concern. I'll also be doing my second set of dyno tuning this week, I just wanted an idea before going in at what my max advance would and should be (approx). I think I gave all the pertinent information as to my engine setup in my opening post, I'm just hoping for someone with a similar setup to ring in.:)
