CIS Components Question

Here's what I have. An 82 SC, with Electromotive Crankfire Ignition (HV-1). I was told when the car went through PPI that it was missing the fuel enrichment portion of the cis. Also, the box under the seat and all associated wiring and relays are missing. It is also missing a line that goes from the Fuel Distrubutor around the back of the unit to the warm up regulator(?). This car is a track car only, so no smog worries. My concern is this. Is it possible for this car to run at the right mixture or could it run too lean on the top causing series issues(if so, how to adjust). It also fluctuates from 500-1300rpm @ idle, then eventually dies. I'm no expert at this, but would like to know the do's and dont's. I have heard varying opinions on whether the car needs the missing portions of the CIS or not. I do want to fix this if possible in the short term. I'm hoping to rebuild this motor with PMO's in the future, but certainly don't want to lean this motor out and cause serious damage unneccesarily or premature. Good question. My memory is hazy, but I think the fuel enrichment add ons are there to add gas when going up hill or accelerating hard. I'm guessing that without them you're going to be awfully, maybe dangerously, lean...not to mention way way down on power. I think you need way more than adjustments... you need some hardware and plumbing. Hope this helps.

A US model 82 had an oxygen sensor and related Lambda electronics as standard equipment. If the stock fuel distributor was left on the car, and the stock Warm Up Regulator, then the remaining fuel system has no capability to enrich the mixture as it was designed to do. To address this, you either have to install the Lambda system, or at least use a different WUR, and maybe the FD as well.

Without knowing exactly what you have on the car now, it would not be possible to answer your questions. The photos don't provide enough info to determine the part numbers of the components or how they are connected.
