Fuch wheel differences

I have two sets of Fuch wheels and was wondering which set would be most stock and best for a 1970 911T.

One set of Fuchs is a 4.5Jx15 with part #90136101201 and another # of 252053

The other set is a 6Jx15 with part # 911361020 and more #'s od AS1621 & 028139.

The 4.5Jx15's look sort of like the deep 6's from the outside in that the spokes curve into the wheel more.

Is there advantages or disadvantages to either of these on a '70T??

Thanks,
Jeff

Use the 6s. The 4.5" rims were from '67 only. You can sell them for quite a bit of $$$ to someone who wants the correct wheels for a '67, but they are not appropriate for your car. Porsche went to 5.5" in '68 and then 6" in '69.

Yeah what he said.....the 4.5s can also be used on 64 and 65 356 "C" models. www.356registry.org is a good place as well as evilBay.

Depends on condition and whether the date stamps are the same....

Condition is very good - no curb rash, etc.
Where is the date Stamp - was it one of the numbers I indicated above in my post, or is it on another one of the spokes on the wheels?
I assume if the date stamps match then higher priced?? What's a ballpark price with matching numbers vs. without matching numbers??

There are no date stamps on the 4.5" Fuchs that I have ever seen, and I have owned 3 different sets of them. I believe the date stamping started later, perhaps on the 5.5" Fuchs in '68 (never owned any of those), and definitely were used by the 6" in '69. On the later wheels, the month/year is stamped on the raised ring around the center hole. See this thread.

I have seen them go for $1000+ apiece on evilBay lately.

Porsche has been date stamping everything since they first started....I would doubt that they excluded the 4.5 Fuchs. The 356 weenies are adament about correct year everything...which includes the date stamp. Doors, bumpers, gauges, even the freaking hinges on the front seats have date stamps.

How do I know? I'm doing my first and LAST 58 restoration. I'm about to put my eyes out.....

Well, if they did date them, they used some kind of alpha code which is pretty unintelligible and never explained it, or they used an inkstamp that didn't last thru the first few washings, or something. Nobody on the Early S Registry has ever seen one on a 4.5" Fuchs in the month/year format seen on the later ones, and if those guys haven't, nobody has.

Funny that....I just went and visited my 58. The paint shop needed more $$. I found another date stamp AND serial number that I never saw before.

If I remember correctly Fuchs had a date stamp in a triangle? Maybe the German record keeping failed in the case of the 4.5 Fuch.

If so, I stand corrected....

I checked all four of mine tonite and I was not able to find any dates, though they all had the 4.5Jx15 with the serial numbers and the small markings that were mentioned on the indentations near the center hole.
So you guy's think the best place to market these might be on the 356 registry site? Do you think these are tradeable for deep 6's??

Best place to sell the 4.5s is the Early S Registry site.

Easily but, you don't want to trade for a set of deep sixes. You want to sell your wheels for $4k and then buy a set of deep sixes for 1.6k

They would be worth a small fortune - Fuchs never made wheels for Porsche in that size !!

Did you mean 5.5 x 14" ?

If so, they don't fetch much...
