Fuel Injectors

Has anybody used fuel injector cleaner with any success (Chevron's Techron, etc)?

And does anybody know what the service intervals were (if any) for the injectors on the 80s Carreras?

+1 on getting them overhauled.
Either that, or replace them. new injector performance vs. original 22 year old injectors will make it feel like you have a new engine... Ask me how I know...
Not only will you have a smoother, better performing engine, your mpg will likely increase by 20% or more!

I used Witch Hunter. Great job and they did a nice report on what they found.

Shipped it to them and they turned them around in a few days.

Every once in a while, a wonder product appears on the market, the one I'm going to tell you about has been around since the 60's. (disclaimer, not affiliated with the company, I don't sell the product but, I'm an avid promoter of the product based on actual use)

In 2000, my uncle, just before he passed away gave me his 1992 Jaguar Vandeplas (like an XJ6, only nicer)

I had the body straightened from all the stray golf balls from the golf course close to his Palm Springs Condo, had it painted and eventually drove it to an Independent Jaguar maintenance shop in Upland, CA. after it failed a smog test. The owner drove the car and recommended a bottle of Motor Purr to cure the fuel injection aliments. I dumped a bottle of the cleaner into the tank, drove it home (8 miles) and by the time I got home, the car was running like a dragster.

I took it to the smog station and it passed (the only difference was the bottle of Motor Purr and 1 days time)

Recently, I bought a bottle of their Injector cleaner and a cheap sonic jewelry cleaner from Harbor Freight and cleaned the injectors on my 2.4 CIS. What a difference.

This stuff is really caustic and is packaged in a glass container, if you decide to clean your injectors, make sure the jewelry cleaner has a stainless steel tub as it will melt plastic.

I wouldn't recommend soaking electronic injectors in this product but you can run it through your gas tank and probably achieve the same results I got with the Jaguar.

Good luck

Back in the 70's and 80's, Porsche recommended using Techron.
