Just for fun, can someone who reads German sort this out? (my previous '71S))

ZAMIRZ sent me a link that doesn't work. So, I went to the home page and started a search. Well, there's over 5000 cars coming up. The object of his link is a '71 S. When if left the US, it was in black satin primer.

Here's the link: http://www.mobile.de/SIDRdwV1bF95nWc3WhFm8RI9A-t-vaNexlCsCsK~BmSB11Iindex_cgiJ1193246051A1D1100CCar/cgi-bin/index_cgi.pl?refinement=0&formType=pkwQuick&_form=search&sr_qual=GN&sr_make=20100&sr_modelId=3&sr_priceTo=-2&sr_registrationDateFrom=-2&sr_mileageTo=-2&sr_engineType=-2&sr_country=-2&sr_zip=&sr_zipRadiusTo=-2&doSearch.x=37&doSearch.y=6

Might be fun to see what's going on.

Switched the language to English (at the top), then searched for 911S between 1970 and 1975. Here ya go:

http://www.mobile.de/SIDlaEsa3o1.9B0P2eNXYbTdw-t-vaNexlCsAsCsK%F3P%F3R~BmSB11LsearchPublicJ11932476 31A2LsearchPublicD1100CCarY-t-vctpLtt~BmPA1B21B20B35%81x-t-vCaMiMkMoPRQuRDSeUnVb_X_Y_x_yprrdsO~BSRA6D1100A3E2 0100D911SI500000000BGND1975CPKWA0HinPublicA2A0A0A0 I100000000D1970A0/cgi-bin/da.pl?bereich=pkw&sprache=2&sr_qual=GN&top=23&id=11111111215615877&

Asking just under $50,000 USD for it after the exchange rate. A little more than you sold it for, Milt?

Here's the babelfish translation...sounds like he didn't rebuild the engine.

Porsche 911 S Coupe Californienimport no sun roof! best Investment, after R-S is exorbitant meanwhile tightens all S of prices strongly. Particularly Coupes without push oh give to convert the sporty Anreitz it for running and Rallys. With this car many work is already performed for chassis number 911 1300 481 engine defectively, can be supplied with outdated engine surcharge 9911 euro

I didn't see the language thing. Pretty lame, I guess.

"With this car many work is already performed for chassis number 911 1300 481 engine defectively, can be supplied with outdated engine surcharge 9911 euro"

I have no idea what that means, but it better have a better motor in it than what it had when I sold it (fully disclosed). Yes, I sold it one and a half years ago for 18K. I was told it was going to be finished as a restoration here in CA. However, it sold quickly to a second speculator who apparently then exported the car.

No matter to me. When it sold, I divorced myself form the car. It was fun, for a while. I wouldn't have a car like that again, though. Too much Walter Mitty/ Ricky Racer and I drove it like a freakin' mad man. It's a wonder I didn't get any tickets or stack it up.

I guess we all have to go through that stage. I see guys here every day making hard riding streeters so they can go what? ... another 5 MPH up that off-ramp?

Now where's that can of bondo??? .

Here a quick translation:

"Porsche 911 S Coupe. Imported from California. No Sunroof! Best investment, after the RS has become unaffordable, all S prices are going up rapidly. Especially coupes without sunroof are good candidates to modify them for races and rallys. Much work has already be done to this vehicle. VIN 911 xxxx. MOTOR DEFECTIVE, can be delivered with rebuilt motor - additional price 9911 Euro."

Remember that you are looking at a 40% price difference just by the exchange rate. To "translate" that asking price into US$ isn't quite fair. 35K Euro feel like 35K US$ over there.

Cheers, George
