Confused about correct 911 tire pressures

I have a 93 911 Cabriolet with Continental Contisport Contact tires. The rears are 225/50/ZR 16's and the fronts are 205/55/ZR 16's. The factory sticker on the drivers inner door calls for 44lbs in the rear tires and 36lbs in the front. I have inflated all 4 at 36lbs and the rear tires are worn in the middle which looks like overinflation. Any ideas on proper tire inflation? Thanks Bill

I guess they don't show the inflation numbers in the rear under the lid anymore? 36/44 sounds like you are trying to explode the things. I would think that 30 front and maybe 33/34 rear would do you well. 44 sounds down right dangerous.

36/44 sounds like the numbers for 17 inch tires.

Tire pressures are interesting. These days, I run something like 32/34 mostly. Autocross pressures are usually somewhat higher, but it all depends on the tire.

Tires wear down mostly due to heat. That, rather than tire pressures, is why they wear in the middle. Low tire pressures allow for more flex, and more heat.
