Engine Yoke
 
I have recently purchased an engine yoke & will be doing a drop shortly. Exactly what additional hardware do I need to buy or fabricate to use this device? It looks like the studs will need some sort of spacer set up due to their length or the yoke will not clinch tightly.I have not seen a kit of hardware listed here or anywhere else that sells P201.

not sure what exactly you are asking but if you need to borrow anything I have a stand and a yoke here

I think I have heard of people using some washers and one of those worthless english sockets as a spacer. Others have cut a length of metal tube to fill some of the space in. If I am picturing what you are talking about correctly.

Engine Adapter...
 
Howdy,

What you need to do is to remove two of the long bell housing bolts from the back of the engine. I was told to use the left side bolts (on the oil cooler side), however the adapter that I bought was more for a VW (it had 4 spokes, not 5) did not have the relieve for the over hang of the oil cooler housing. So I removed the long studs on the right hand side and installed the adapter. To remove the studs I would use some "mouse milk" or equal then run on two old nuts to the stud, lock them down against each other and remove the stud. This works well and won't destroy the stud. The adapter is made so that you can split the engine while on the stand, so the half arc of the adapter is in the vertical position.

I can take a pix of my engine on the stand if that would help...

Mike,

I'll get a pix to ya this evening... Is your adapter a 4 or 5 spoke? I bought mine off of e-bay from a guy in California for $90. However it's a 4 spoke and doesn't have the relieve for the oil cooler that the $240 model has. Since I'm not a professional I think the the cheaper one will work for me.

Hi Mike,
I used sockets (S.A.E., of course :D ) as spacers for the yoke. Otherwise, you can remove the transmission studs and use shorter studs as mentioned and mildly torque them to the case.

Just to clarify the mounting of the engine adapter I used bolts rather than a shorter stud. Hey, it all works.
