I was thinking of the same thing recently. Using copper plumbing, constructing a trombone cooler with a few extra passes.

Better think brass or aluminum. I picked some material at random. Close, but not exact comparisons:

Copper tube
1: OD
Wall = .065"
ID = .87"
weight = .7401 lbs/linear foot

Brass tube
.875" OD
Wall = .03"
ID = .815
weight = .2944 lbs/linear foot

Aluminum
1" OD
Wall, .083"
ID = .834
weight = .29898 lbs/linear foot

After this project, you will seriously think about putting two big a$$ batteries in the LF corner to balance the front end. In addition, there would be enough room and lots of airflow if you delete the RF wheel/tire.

when you are ready to mount it on your car, let me know. I'll come and help. On the hood or engine lid? :lol:

Porsche Crest

Goin' to need something more than the average 3.6 to get that cooler up to 150 mph, I guess!

Sherwood,

Did you conside that the brass is roughly half the weight of the coppr because the wall thickness is less than half (and the diameter is slightly less). Copper and brass have very similar densities.

That exceeds my 911 cooling needs - but if only I could convince my wife to let me install that in the house for my homebrewing setup...

Of course not. Here's more accurate info. Brass is just a bit lighter.

Brass - rolled and drawn 8430 - 8730 kg/cu.m
Copper 8930 kg/cu.m

Thanks for the catch of sloppy research. Will be more thorough next time.

Dip that puppy into an ice bath and hook a keg up to it.

Instant cold beverage.
