Targa Side Seal Modifications
OK, I've seen threads mentioning the replacement Targa side seals being too long, but none recently, and none with pictures showing the process or even where they need to be trimmed. I'm in the process of replacing mine right now and in addition to being too long, they also appear to be too thick. I can adjust the windows down ward, but the top of the frame on the corner window appears to be pushing the roof up when ever I close the doors. I need advice and pictures from people who have done this job successfully.
Thanks in advance. --Bob |

Thanks for the tip. Actually Dan's posts on here have been a great help in me figuring out what was going on here. He wrote an explaination of how to do this, but that was several months ago and the pictures were apparently never posted. Bad side is Dan posted that he's going on vacation this week, and it's getting too cold to drive with the top off (snow in the forecast). So I figured a public call to arms is in order.
I'm hoping someone has done this by now and has pictures to post so we can all benefit. C-mon, someone's done it. Dan, enjoy your vacation, but feel free to chime in when you get back. BTW: A Cars Inc restoration is in the plans for about one or two years from now. My top's in really good shape, but I believe in using it as it was intended which includes folding. Given the age of the material, I know it will eventually wear out, and I'll be your next happy customer. Until then, a couple of side seals seems a reasonable usage tax. Thanks! --Bob |
