First engine drop
Today was the day that I dropped the engine. I read alot of posts on this topic, read Waynes book ,and the Bentley manual.
I used a piece of plywood on a pallet truck and placed it under the engine so once I loosened the engine and transmission mounts they would rest on the plywood. I then raised the car until the fan cleared the bottom of the bumper. The only snag I had was the input shaft of the tranny got hung up where it passes through the body at the shift rod.It took a bit of adjusting with the pallet truck and another jack and it slipped out. If it wasn't for this board I never would have attempted this. Here are the required pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

perfect....re. the shift rod.. if you disconnect and push it in the tranny the whole thing can come straight down... the last time I dropped I raised and lowered the car instead of the engine as you did.. works fine and doesn't need as many people...just did it myself and moved things slowly... my car is a 3.2 so could be a bit different.. but anyway great job. No question this is the best car forum out there from what I've seen....

Hans, the car used to be red. I removed the engine to replace the sound pad, paint the inside of the engine compartment, and detail the motor.
I've got until March to finish it.
